چکیده

A total of 20 biogenic carboxylic acids, which contain one to three negatively charged -COOgroup(s), were investigated as dispersion additives in the processing of ceramic particles. Only carboxylic acids containing one or more hydroxyl groups were able to disperse ct-A120 3 particles in aqueous suspensions. Detailed studies of two carboxylic acids, citric acid and tricarballylic acid were undertaken: measurements of zeta potential, particle packing, and dispersant adsorption characeristics indicated that carboxylic acid groups and hydroxyl groups are both important for dispersion of the ceramic particles. Hydroxyl groups increased the adsorption of the molecules to the particles.

Chemistry of Silanes: Interfaces in Dental Polymers and Composites1

The performance and service life of glass-or ceramic-filled polymeric composites depend on the nature of their resin, filler and interfacial phases as well as the efficacy of the polymerization process. The synergy that exists between the organic polymer matrix and the usually inorganic reinforcing filler phase is principally mediated by the interfacial/interphasial phase. This latter phase dev...

TiO2 Pigment Suspension Behaviour upon Adsorption of Polymeric Dispersants

The influence of polymeric dispersants containing different functional groups on TiO2 pigment particle suspension was investigated at pH 6.0 and 9.5, using rheology and particle size data. The dispersants chosen were polyacrylic acid and modified polyacrylamides including homo and copolymers modified with carboxylate and/or hydroxyl groups. The pigment suspension was strongly affected by both p...

Rheology of Titania Pigment Slurry

Titania is one of the most important white pigments currently used in the world with a total annual production of about 6 million [1]. Titania pigment slurry properties are very important for consumer industries such as paints, papermaking and plastics; if aggregates are present, the end-use properties including gloss, brightness, colour hue, opacity and storage stability will be highly affecte...

Afrl-rx-wp-tp-2011-4288 Influencing Solvent Miscibility and Aqueous Stability of Oxide Passivated Aluminum Nanoparticles through Surface Functionalization with Acrylic Monomers (preprint)

With increasing interest in the development of new composite systems for a variety of applications which require easily processible materials and adequate structural properties with high energy densities, we have pursued the chemical functionalization of oxide passivated aluminum nanoparticles (nAl) using three acrylic monomers, 3‐(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (MPS), 2‐carboxyethyl acryl...
